| It’s a night of Chew Mei Fun bashing! Both the Sec Gen of DongJiaoZong and educationist Cikgu Loot Ting Yee criticised Chew for neglecting her duty and responsibility as the MP for PJ Utara.Cikgu Loot also urged the voters to vote against Barisan Nasional parties to send a strong signal to them that “enough is enough”. He said if the people had wanted a good and caring government, they must make sure the government is not too powerful and arrogant. He said only a shaky (goyang-goyang) goverment would respect the will and aspirations of the people.
The representative from KL Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall reiterated its support for Baixiao. As long as Baixiao is not reopened, the organisation will not take down the “countdown” signboard erected on its building at Jalan Maharajalela, KL. The signboard registers the number of days of closure of the original SJKC Damansara for the past 7 years, reminding the people about the struggle of Baixiao. A total of RM260,000 was raised last night (exceeded the target of RM250,000). DAP was represented by me, Liew Chin Tong and Tony Pua. And PKR was represented by Sivarasa Rasiah, William Leong, Lee Seng Kim and Dr Lee Boon Chai.

The Baixiao issue should be part of your campaigning issues in the next G.E in recapturing PJU from the hands of MCA.
PJ folks must be made aware that not everything in PJ is well and dandy. PJ’s woes are not just about unmaintained roads, crimes and broken down public facilities. Here we have a school which was serving the educational needs of the community one day and gone another day. If MCA is not going to be concern about the educational needs of the community of PJ and dilapidated state of our raods and other public facilities then why should we vote for MCA via the Barisan National? Enough is enough! Let’s give our votes to Ronnie. If anyone doubts that he is not doing anything or not working hard enough for PJ, then just direct them to his blog. No need to argue. Let the blog speak for itself.

I think MCA people has no substance, I believe I can take on any MCA members one on one in a debate in Malay. MCA is so useless that the word itself makes my blood boil

“Umno has no respect on MCA/Gerakan” the title only further strenghtens my believe that MCA is a dog party.

Should dap win in pj,do bai xiao get a new life?No the CONTROL on the power is still with umno. The desire for a goal is ok[like the restoration of bai xiao],but one must have the strategy and planning for an action plan to secure the goal.Otherwise,it is hot air and giving false hope.To beat umno, the opposition must unite and malays voters are key to any success plan.Be honest, just trying to please certain extreme view,we drown holding on to this burden.Bn can never win without support from malay voters. When a govt is shaky without a viable and capable opposition to fill in [ie having support of all racces, the majority being malays]then disaster of all kinds will erupt.Do not cut the nose to spite the face, unless you have a better replacement nose.Opp party refuse to reform and they expect the voters to.You can only sell what people want to buy and not what you wanted to sell.Dap must reform and repackage. It is hardwork and painful as many deadwood have to be sidelined. For the future of the country ,this sacrfice is necessary.

Where are you, Chew Mei Fun?
Joyce Tagal & Yong Kai Ping
Jun 25, 07 4:47pm
Petaling Jaya Utara Parliament Member Chew Mei Fun was again conspicuous by her absence at the SOS Damansara fund-raising dinner, adding to a history of missed dates with supporters of the Chinese primary school.
Inevitably, Chew – also the parliamentary secretary of the women, family and community development ministry – was singled out for criticism.
Chinese education movement Dong Jiao Zong honorary secretary Ko Bing Liyong compared her with Gasing Indah state assemblyperson and Gerakan Selangor exco member Lim Thuan Seng, who has attended several of these dinners.
“Why is that Lim can show up, while Chew can’t? Why hasn’t she raised the issues in Parliament? Where is her sense of responsibility as the MP for this area?” he asked in a speech.
More than 2,000 supporters were at the event at the Section 17 car park, including leaders of the Chinese community, politicians from Barisan Nasional component parties, opposition parties and human rights activists.
The SOS Damansara committee collected some RM270,000 in donations – exceeding the target of RM250,000 – with students also selling bottles of traditional medicinal wine and novelty items to add to the proceeds.
The money will be used to cover the cost of operating the school from air-conditioned containers in the compound of a temple.
The original premises were closed in 2001 when the school was relocated to new facilities some 4km away. Those who resisted the move have kept the school going, currently with 60 students and 10 teachers.
Young performers
The SOS committee’s demands include the re-opening of the school, construction of 16 more Chinese schools in Petaling Jaya and implementation of policies consistent with the United Nations code on mother-tongue education.
Committee chairperson Yong Yoke Song pointed out that Petaling Jaya, with a population of 340,000, has only eight Chinese schools.
“According to the government’s ratio, there should be at least 16 more Chinese schools in PJ,” he said.
During the dinner, students, including members of the school alumni, performed songs, martial arts and skits for a receptive audience.
Children as young as seven showed off their talents in acrobatics, Chinese opera and playing traditional instruments.
In one item, students lamented the loss of mother tongue education.
One by one, they pointed to the next person in a literal ‘passing-of-the-buck’ scenario, saying in various dialects and languages, “I can’t speak Mandarin. Don’t look at me. Look at him.”
Then they pointed accusingly at the audience, asking, “Why can’t you speak Chinese? Why can’t you speak Chinese?”
