Didn’t he say that he has never met her? We are very proud of Karpal Singh because for his timely intervention. If not for him, we will be still in the dark about the rendezvous btween Najib and Altantuya. At the same time , we were very upset with Manoj and Tun Majid who deliberately avoided the probing. Both must be punished for this act.Najib must now explain what sort of relationship he has with Altantuya(a.k.s Amina). A Mongolian witness caused a stir in court today when she revealed that murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu had been photographed having a meal with a Malaysian government official named Najib Razak.Burmaa Oyunchimeg (left), also known as Amy, told the Shah Alam High Court that Altantuya had shown her the photo in Hong Kong when she returned from a trip to France.It is believed that the government official in the photograph is Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who has close ties with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda.The latter has been charged with abetting the murder of Altantuya, 28.Najib has previously denied that he had personally met the murdered woman and that he heard of her only from newspaper reports after Altantuya was murdered.This morning, Burmaa, 26, had mentioned the photograph when re-examined by DPP Manoj Kurup.Manoj was asking whether she had personal knowledge of Altantuya’s disappearance.Burmaa began her answer conveyed by her translator Enkhjargal Tsetsgee that she knew Altantuya had come to see Razak who happens to be the only person she knows in Malaysia. “I know why she wanted to see Razak Baginda, I have seen pictures of Altantuya with Razak and a government official,” she said. However, Manoj quizzed her as to how she knew Altantuya disappeared and did not follow up with Burmaa’s sudden revelation. About 20 minutes later, lawyer Karpal Singh, who is holding a watching brief for the deceased’s family, sought permission from the court to pose a question on the photograph. ‘They had the same name’ This drew protests from the prosecution and a verbal exchange ensued on the relevance of the question. However, judge Mohd Zaki Mohd Yasin granted Karpal permission. The veteran lawyer then proceeded to ask Burmaa on what was depicted in the photograph. “She (Altantuya) was having a meal at a round table with Razak (Baginda), a Malaysian government official and other people,” she replied. Karpal then asked her on the identity of the government official, and she replied: “I remember the name Najib Razak, they had the same name, ‘Razak’. I thought they were brothers. I asked her (Altantuya) if they were brothers.” This sparked off another exchange between the prosecution and Karpal before the judge dismissed Burmaa and directed the courtroom to stand down for 15 minutes. The next witness was lance corporal Rohaniza Roslan, 29, who had testified that the red Proton Wira aeroback - which was seen by Razak’s private investigator P Balasubramaniam as the car that took Altantuya away on Oct 19 last year - belonged to her. Examined by DPP Noorin Badaruddin, Rohaniza said she was off duty that night and was keeping Azilah company at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman. She and Azilah were a couple at that time. “Azilah had an assignment to escort the PM and DPM to Hong Kong but it was cancelled. So I was there to help him unpack his belongings,” she said. Rohaniza elaborated that Azilah received a call and later followed him to Bukit Damansara. She said she saw an Indian man talking to a “Chinese woman”. She told the court that she then moved to the back seat and the Chinese woman sat next to her. ‘Don’t create trouble’  According to Rohaniza, a man in a green cap then showed up, entered the car and Azilah drove them away before dropping the man off at a junction nearby. “He got out of my car, went into a green (Suzuki) Vitara and Azilah tailed him to a highway towards the direction of Bukit Aman. “It was then the Chinese woman asked us who we were and Azilah told her “police”,” the Petaling Jaya-based officer told Noorin. She said Azilah told the Chinese woman not to create trouble at Razak’s house because he has a family at home and that she should find Razak at his office instead. Rohaniza who was tearing when she was asked to point Azilah out as she revealed that she has known Azilah since 1998 when she joined the police force. Two police officers - Azilah, 30, and corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 35 - are charged with the murder of Altantuya. Razak, 47, is charged with abetting them. Prosecutors allege that Abdul Razak and Altantuya met in 2004 and began a whirlwind affair, during which he gave her money. After they broke up a year later, he allegedly continued to give her money whenever she demanded. But the payments stopped last year, prompting her to become dissatisfied and travel to Malaysia in October, the prosecution said. Altantuya was killed by ‘probable blast-related’ injuries in a clearing in Shah Alam after she was driven away from outside Abdul Razak’s house in mid-October. All three accused faced the death penalty.

A different kind of drama unfolded in the Altantuya murder trial today when prosecution witness Shaariibuu Setev claimed from the witness stand that he was assaulted and harassed by Abdul Razak Baginda’s wife.Shaariibuu, the second prosecution witness, said Mazlina Makhzan (photo) had kicked him this morning.He also claimed that she had also punched him in the stomach as she passed by him during a break this morning.Shaariibuu added that Mazlina had been harassing him since the beginning of the murder trial of his daughter Altantuya.After hearing his complaints, Shah Alam High Court judge Mohd Zaki Md Yasin ordered that the families of Abdul Razak Baginda and Shaariibuu Setev be kept apart. In tears Earlier in the day, Shaariibuu became emotional and wept after he was shown his daughter’s photo. “She is Altantuya”, he said in the Mongolian language. He then took off his spectacles to wipe his tears before his words were interpreted into English. He also took a swipe at various media reports that had labelled Altantuya as ‘a Mongolian woman”. He said many people had reported and called her a Mongolian woman “but if you want me to mention her name, I will.” Justice Mohd Zaki then allowed a 30-minute recess to enable Shaariibuu to calm down before cross-examination by the defence. The trial will continue after lunch. In the dock are Chief Insp Azilah Hadri, 30, and Cpl Sirul Azhar Umar, 35, charged with murdering Altantuya, 28, at a location between lots 12843 and 16735 in Mukim Bukit Raja here between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20 last year. Political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda, 46, is charged with abetting them the previous day.

炸尸案审讯进入第5天 ，继续出现高潮迭起的局面。出席作证的阿旦杜雅父亲沙里布 ，今早突然向法庭申诉 ，指炸尸案第三被告阿都拉萨巴金达的妻子玛兹琳达（左图），自审讯开始至今就不断骚扰和诅咒他，甚至用脚踢他及殴打其肚子。 在第一被告阿兹拉哈德里（Azilah Hadri）的辩护律师哈兹曼（Hazman Ahmad）在上午结束盘问后，身为第二名证人的沙里布表示欲向法庭做出申诉。 沙里布通过其蒙古翻译员以英语表示，“每次阿都拉萨妻子玛兹琳达经过（我身边），她就踢我。刚才她也打我（沙里布用手指向本身的肚子）。每一次她都压迫、骚扰和诅咒我。我很难忍受。不过，我是一个受过教育的人，我不会对她做出什么行动”。 沙里布补充说，玛兹琳达大约今早10时30分休庭时，在法庭通往证人室的入口处，再一次攻击他。 在听取其投诉后，沙亚南高庭法官法官莫哈末查基即刻下令，把阿都拉萨的家属及沙里布分隔起来。 沙里布：目睹庭警可作证 沙里布（右图）也表示，有庭警目睹他遭到玛兹琳达的攻击。 然而，玛兹琳达在午餐休庭步出法庭时，却怒气冲冲的向记者表示，“我在法庭里踢和殴打他？这有可能吗？简直是撒谎（What a lie）”。 在沙里布申诉完毕后，主控官敦阿都玛吉副检察司（Tun Majid Tun ，当她发现阿旦杜亚失踪后 ，就前往吉隆坡的一间警局报案。但是她却否认曾在报案书里头 ，直指阿都拉萨是阿旦杜亚的丈夫。 娜米拉今日在沙亚南高庭做证，不曾向警方这么表示。 她强调，“我没说过这些话”。 娜米拉是蒙古女郎炸尸案的第三名证人，她通过蒙古翻译员向法庭透露，在失踪之前（2006年10月19日），阿旦杜亚曾与另一名陪同到来马来西亚的友人乌里杜雅（Uuriintuya Gal Orchir），一起前往警局报案。不过，她没有随行，也不知道为何报案。 后来三人在当晚就乘坐德士前往阿都拉萨的住家，并在那里遇见阿都拉萨聘请的私家侦探巴拉（P Balasubramaniam）。不过当后者告诉她们说，阿都拉萨不在家时，她们就折返下榻的马来亚酒店。 单独前去，或能见拉萨 娜米拉说，在大约9时左右，阿旦杜亚向她们表示，“阿都拉萨现在可能人在屋里，我想回去向他说声屠妖节快乐”。 Kumar）以询问阿旦杜亚的下落。不过巴拉却表示不知晓，苏拉斯的电话则无法被接通。 阿旦私家侦探协助报警 第二天，在酒店经理的劝告下，娜米拉在阿旦杜亚之前聘请的私家侦探洪忠明的协助下，前往李孝式路警局报案。 她说，由于自己不会讲英语或马来语，因此在前往报案前，曾致电人在香港的阿旦杜亚胞妹布玛（Burmaa Oyunchimeg，又称艾美Amy，右图），要她以英语告诉洪忠明究竟发生了什么事，过后再由洪忠明与负责报案的警察进行沟通。 这份拥有娜米拉签名的报案书，显示她是报案者，而洪忠明则是翻译员。这份只有4个句长的报案书，是指娜米拉与阿旦杜亚在10月6日抵达吉隆坡。 不过，当翻译员在法庭上将报案书内容念给娜米拉听时，她却表示日期应该是10月8日。 指巴拉致电约往拉萨家 报案书也指一名“印度人”（巴拉，左图）致电阿旦杜亚，指其丈夫阿都拉萨要求这名“印度人”转告她，前往阿都拉萨位于白沙罗的住家。 对此，娜米拉否认。她也否认报案书的另一段内容，即阿旦杜亚与阿都拉萨已成婚。 娜米拉更澄清说，当时她指阿旦杜亚是“姐姐（或妹妹）”，不是报案书上的“女性友人”。 不过，报案书的其他部分都被确认是正确的，即阿旦杜亚离开酒店前往白沙罗后，就失踪，电话也屡拔不通。 临走前留下一张电话名单 娜米拉也表示，阿旦杜亚在19日早上前往警局报案之前，曾交给她一份电话名单，表示若有不测，就联络名单上的电话。 于是她就把电话清单，交给较后抵达的布玛，因为后者会讲英语。 一直到娜米拉返回蒙古后，她才从电视上得悉阿旦杜亚已遭人谋害。 较早前，她也表示，与乌里杜雅一同来马，是为了就读一项语文课程，并不清楚阿旦杜亚来马目的。后者曾表示是要来马，会晤“某人”。 艾美过后联络洪姓私家侦探协助两人前往报案。当时，由洪姓私家侦探将警员的马来话翻译成英文给两人听，再由私家侦探讲给警员听；由于沟通不良，几人报案时还用绘图传达报案内容。 主控官马诺问纳美拉，在报案书上签名时是否读过报案书内容？她声称，没有人念过内容给她听。主控官后来让通译员协助纳美拉读报案书内容，不过，纳美拉随后声称，报案书中有一些话，她并没有说过。她只在报案时，告诉警员她几时来，住在什么地方、阿尔丹杜雅离开后就再没有回来。 于是，主控官马诺便逐句问纳美拉，她是否曾经在警局说过这些话。 马诺：我在2006年10月6日，和我的女性朋友阿尔丹杜雅，28岁，住在马来亚酒店，821号房。 纳美拉：我们来的日期是10月8日，我没有说女性朋友，我说姐妹（sister）。 马诺：在2006年10月19日，时间19:00（晚上七时），我的朋友阿尔丹杜雅在马来亚酒店接到一个印裔男人的电话，说她（阿尔丹杜雅）的丈夫叫他载我的朋友去白沙罗高原。 纳美拉：我从来没有说过这样的话。 马诺：然后，大约20:00（晚上八时），我的朋友联络我，她已经抵达他丈夫阿都拉萨巴金德在白沙罗高原的家。 纳美拉：我说她到了那里，其他的我没有说过。 马诺：我的朋友已经跟阿都拉萨巴金德结婚直到现在。 纳美拉：我没有说过。 马诺：直到现在，我联络我的朋友，但是都无法联络上她。 纳美拉：是我的话。 马诺：我报案的原因是，担心有什么事发生在我朋友身上。 纳美拉：我说了这些话，不过没有说朋友，而是说姐妹。 纳美拉说，直到她离开马来西亚为止，都不知道阿尔丹杜雅发生了什么事。直到后来，她在蒙古看到新闻时，才知道阿尔丹杜雅被残酷地杀死，她被枪杀，然后被炸。

Altantuya case: One of the private eyes sacked

The private eye who worked for P Balasubramaniam was sacked because he was said to have an intimate relationship with one of the Mongolian girls who accompanied Altantuya to Malaysia. According to P Balasubramaniam, he sacked his assistant Suras Kumar at the request of his client Razak Baginda. Shaariibuu is the second prosecution witness to take the stand in this high-profile murder trial. Private investigator P Balasubramaniam has been testifying for the past three days and almost the full day today.  Shaariibuu also described his daughter as having a jet-setting life as a professional translator and interpreter. “She traveled most frequently to Malaysia, Singapore and China, but also traveled to many other countries.” When asked how many children he had, he replied that he had two daughters. Manoj will continue with his questioning tomorrow when the trial resumes before Justice Mohd Zaki Md Yasin. Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda is charged with abetting the murder of Altantuya. Climbing crime rates = Government’s failure

The new wave of gang rape and violence that have shaken up the entire Johor Bahru last week has once again puts the PDRM under microscope.

Before I make my comments, pls read and understand how PDRM deploys its personnels…

 You see, PDRM only deploy 6,661 men and women out of 100,632 they have to fight crimes. That’s clearly not enough and that’s why we have been openly and repeatedly calling for redeployment of the police force. We have also repeatedly raised the issue of the need for a pay rise for the police force to raise their fighting spirit. We were satisfied with the recent pay rise for the men and women in blues.

More than a year ago (shortly after the Canny Ong’s murder), I have personally called for the reduction of staff for the Special Branch, FRU and also cut down the number of outriders for VIPs in order to despatch more men and women in blues to the streets to protect our lives. But sad to say that nothing is being done in that direction.

And pls take a look at the crime rates now (an extract from a recent Malaysiakini report).

Increase in crime rate

“According to the official crime index released in the PDRM website, the country had 198,622 crime incidents in 2006 compared with 157, 459 in 2005, which is a 12 percent hike. In the first two months of 2007, the police recorded 35, 076 crime cases. The biggest crime in all the years is theft including property theft, petty theft, house break-ins and vehicle theft.Equally disturbing was that the crime-solving rate had slid during the same period.

In 2005, the police managed to solve 76,284 cases, which amounted to 48.9 percent while only 73,281 or 36.8 percent of the cases were solved in 2006.

In January and February this year, 13,386 or 38.1 percent of the cases have been solved.

In the past when DAP raised this issue in Parliament, the government had claimed that the national crime-solving rate was always above the international accepted level of 40 percent.

However, Chow (Penang DAP chief) said Abdullah owed the public an explanation on why there was a decrease in the crime-solving rate for 2006, which was below the international mark.

“Have the police slowed down and become inefficient in solving crime?” he asked.

Primary concern

The statistics also revealed that Selangor is the most crime-prone state with 47,499 reported cases in 2005, 54,270 in 2006 and 6,771 in January and February this year.

Other leading crime-prone states are Johor with 24,945 cases in 2005, 28,469 in 2006 and 3,524 in last January and February, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 20,689, 25,236 and 4,547 cases; and Penang with 12,407, 16,229 and 3,822 cases respectively.”

The figures are very alarming. We hope the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who also hold s the position of the Internal Security Minister (not to mention the Minister of Finance he’s holding) to do some thing quickly about the deployment of police to stop the crime rates from climbing to another notch. 

Yes, we need more police to protect the ordinary people in the streets. Too many of them are now serving the Special Branch, FRU or working as outriders for the VIPs and that’s not healthy.

The BN Government is at fault if they continue to ignore the need of better protection and a crime-free society. What is so difficult to direct the PDRM to re-deploy its staff, Mr Prime Minister?

Altantuya’s father: No DNA samples taken from his grandson

The entire population in this country felt ashamed by this atrocity committed by Malaysian police officers connected to a top government leader. Anyone out there actually believes that the top gun in question was not involved at all? Mr Shaariibuu’s questions were not unfounded. Malaysia owes him a good explanation.

Justice must be done and seen to be done in order to restore the image of Malaysia.

I would like to refer to the news report by Bernama on 24 April 2007 in which the obvious was confirmed - that my four year old grandson Altanshagai’s father was a Mongolian (son of Altantuya’s ex-husband) and not a Malaysian, Abdul Razak Baginda.

The newspaper mentioned that the person who revealed the result was a police source and I would like to thank him or her for this interesting piece of news.

However, I would like to ask: how did the police come to know the result when no DNA samples were taken from my grandson? The forensic experts from Malaysia visited my home in Ulaanbataar on 14 March 2007, they saw my grandson but did not take his blood samples. Instead they took blood samples from my wife.

Anyway, I have already made clear in a press conference here that Altantuya met Baginda in 2004, but my grandson was born in 2003, so it is impossible for the boy to be Baginda’s son.

Another matter which I would like to say is that I take note that Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Ministe Najib Tun Razak has denied (although the C4 explosive used to kill her can only come from his ministry of defense) that he was in any manner related to my murdered daughter Altantuya.

But I would like to remind the dear Mr.Najib and also Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Ahamad Badawi that the crime was committed by your security officers (who are now in custody of the police and awaiting trial in June).

Baginda has also stated in his affidavit that this security officer of yours had killed about 5-6 people before, and it seems in the case of my daughter Altantuya, your political adviser Razak Baginda abetted the crime.

Also according to Baginda’s affidavit, your colleague Mr Musa Safri played an important role into the murder but he has not been charged with any crime or even questioned as to what role they have played in the murder.

The whole world is watching when the trial is held in June. That’s why Malaysian government should to handle the crime with high responsibility.

I would like to request that it would be a charitable response for the evil that your officers have done, if the government can make some civic conscious compensation for Altantuya’s orphans, including the youngest one who is very sick.

We have lost Altantuya for almost seven months and we are still grieving her lost. I do not think Altantuya will rest in peace until all these questions are answered.

The father of a Mongolian national brutally killed in Malaysia today hit out at the deputy prime minister’s denial that he had any links to her and said questions remained over her death.Setev Shaariibuu (photo) said the world would be watching when two members of an elite police squad which guards top leaders go on trial for his daughter’s murder next month.Altantuya Shaariibuu, 28, was murdered in October last year and her body blown up with explosives in a case that has shocked Malaysians. Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was forced to deny any involvement after political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, with whom he is connected, was charged with abetting the crime. “I take note that Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak has denied … that he was in any manner related to my murdered daughter Altantuya,” Shaariibuu said in a statement to the government and Malaysian media. “But I would like to remind dear Mr Najib and also Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the crime was committed by your security officers.” Seeking compensation He added: “The whole world is watching when the trial is held in June. That’s why (the) Malaysian government should handle the crime with high responsibility.” The statement dated May 2 was released through a coalition of Mongolian non-government groups championing Altantuya’s case, and disseminated Thursday by rights group Suaram. M Munkhsaruul, coordinator with the Mongolian National Center Against Violence leading the coalition, told AFP it was assisting Shaariibuu, who cannot speak English, with trauma counselling and translation services. “We have lost Altantuya for almost seven months and we are still grieving her … I do not think Altantuya will rest in peace until all these questions are answered,” said Shaariibuu, who also called for compensation from Malaysia. Police have said Altantuya was kidnapped from outside the home of Abdul Razak, who admitted in January he had an affair with her but wanted her out of his life after she demanded money. Ulu Yam MCA local warlord becomes land grabber?

 

Low Kim Chai (sitting next to LKS) and other land-grabbing victims from Ulu Yam took their plight to the Parliament today. Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang and Tanjung MP Chow Kuan Yew took up their complaints and hopefully something positive would come out of this meeting.

Low and other victims lost their land rights to a local MCA warlord. In a reply from the KKB land office, Lim Ba Lee lost her land right to Tan Kim Peing, the special assistant to Datk Ch’ng Toh Eng, The Selangor State Exco member. Tan is also the MCA deputy chairman for Kuala Selangor Division and a district councillor. Instead of helping out the villagers with the documents entrusted to him, Tan made use of them to his own benefits. No action was taken to Tan neither by MCA nor the authority despite of numerous police reports and ACA report were made against him over the last two years. What have happened to our police force and ACA, Mr Prime Minister?

The local MCA warlord has allegedly collaborated with certain land office senior officers, turning land rights belong to these villagers into titles but these titles were registered in his name or people closed or connected to him. He either keep the titles or sold them for profits.

Adorna, post-Adorna, Adorna-like injustices and malpractices in Land Offices

Two days ago, I had issued a statement calling on the Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid to stop sleeping on his job as he had neither done nor said a single word in his three years as Minister in charge of the land portfolio about the gross injustice of the land law which allowed forgery and fraudulent issue and fraudulent transfer of land titles, with hundreds of landowners who have become victims running into tens or even hundreds of millions of ringgit.

It is common sense that an innocent purchaser cannot obtain good title from an impostor, impersonator or forger. Very importantly, a forger cannot pass title by using a fraudulently procured document of title so that even a subsequent innocent purchaser does not get any good title.

However, in land law, as a result of the 2001 Federal Court decision in Adorna Properties Sdn Bhd v Boonsom Bunyanit, there is now a shocking exception – with Section 340 of the National Land Code (NLC) interpreted to favour innocent buyers of land transferred through forgery or fraud, which has destroyed the integrity of land titles and the sanctity of property, leaving the original owners without any means to recover their land.

When Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi became Prime Minister, he issued a ”wake up call” to all land offices telling them to buck up to do justice to the rightful landowners.

Why has Azmi as the Minister in charge of the land office in the past three years failed to take any action to end the gross injustice in the Adorna case, at least to stop any post-Adorna development with hundreds of landowners falling victim to fraudsters, forgers, impostors and impersonators becoming the “new Adornas” by amending the National Land Code?

I have today another batch of cases involving gross injustices in land administration – involving some 280 plots of land, both residential and agricultural, which changed hands without the knowledge of the landowners in Ulu Yam, Selangor.

Low Kim Chai and 15 other landowners in Ulu Yam are among the complainants that their plots were transferred to family members and relatives of a local MCA leader and another former village head without their knowledge.

Their predicaments were quite similar with the 18 landowners in Kapar, where plots of land given to them under the Rancangan Buku Hijau (Green revolution) were transferred to a local MCA Datuk without their knowledge (Malay Mail cover story, 19 March 2005).

The local land office officials have told the villagers about the bad news but they were unable to give details relating to the respective new landowners. Some of the landowners have made police reports. They have given the names of the suspected MCA leaders to the police. The police were urged to start investigations immediately as the scam involves so many villagers and landowners but there was no response from the police until today.

The victims were subsequently brought to the Selangor Menteri Besar’s office as well as the public complaints bureau in Shah Alam. Following the complaint, the letter, Encik Tukiman (the land office chief) confirmed that some of the victims’ plots had indeed changed hands but he too failed to give further details except confirming that the name of the alleged MCA local leader Tan Kim Peing was indeed in the list of “new ” landowners. But there was no action taken against Tan by either the authority or his party, MCA.

Reports to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) were also a waste of time and effort, bringing no results.

Azmi should explain why there is so much hanky-panky, abuses of power and even corruption nvolving the Land Office, which is regarded by Malaysians as one of the government departments topping the list of “most corrupt” departments.

I call on Azmi to give a full statement on these cases of injustices in land administration and law in the country, starting with his reply in Parliament next week during the winding-up of the debate on the Royal Address.

When is Azmi going to implement the Prime Minister’s directive that the Land Office to “buck up” and “clean up” so that it would no more be regarded as one of the top “corrupt” government departments in the country – to end the injustices and malpractices of the Adorna, post-Adorna and Adorna-like cases in land administration

Restructure police force to put more men and women in blues to fight crimes in the streets

In my opinion,  poor and sluggish economy and inefficiency of police force were the two main factors for escalating crime rates in the country.The  rosy picture of economic health was the work of spin-doctors. The real market on the ground is sluggish and the employment rate is on the rise. Many of these unemployed who were of weak characters will take chances and risk their lives in criminal activities for survival.Inefficiency of the police force would have indirectly “encouraged” more criminals to take the streets. We cannot wait for the government to recruit another 60,000 officers by 2010. What we need is an immediate restructuring of the police force. PDRM should cut down the number of officers in departments such as the Special Branch, FRU and outriders in order to place more men and women in blues to to fight crimes in the streets. Do you know that only 6,661 out of 100,000 police officers were involved in fighting crimes at the moment? On the other hand, gangsterism and Mat Rempit have been haunting Malaysians in general and we need the police to take actions to curb their activities. They have already gone outof hand in recent years.We were very concerned with politicians who lend their support to Mat Rempit and gangsters in this country. They were , of course, leaders of the ruling Barisan Nasional parties. DAP Selangor will be meeting the Selangor CPO some time in March. We will be organising an English forum on fighting crimes in PJ immediately after the CNY holidays. We will also hold a few more forums in Klang and other areas. 雪州行动党呼吁政府调整警队现有的资源，同时提升警队的执行效率，以保障马来西亚人民的安全。雪州行动党主席欧阳捍华在一场记者会上，针对前槟州总警长马骐骝遇害事件提出了两大疑问：（一）如果前警察总长都能成为罪案的受害者，一般普通百姓如何能够豁免？ （二）警方是否能够有效打击高居的犯罪率？ 成立“反对罪案运动小组” 雪州行动党决定成立一个以秘书刘永山为首的“反对罪案运动小组”，同时将在今年3月与雪州总警长依斯迈奥玛展开对话，并举办两场讲座会，呼吁民众提高警惕。 欧阳捍华认为，马骐骝事件不是单独个案，因为类似案件在过去也曾发生。 “昔日打击罪犯的英雄，今日成为罪案的受害者，这对马来西亚的治安来说，是一大讽刺。” 雪州行动党领导层今早于该党雪州总部召开记者会，其他出席者是非政府组织局主任刘天球、雪州副秘书张菲倩，以及双溪威支部主席甘南（T Kanan）。 镇暴队和贵宾保镖浪费警力  刘永山指出，我国拥有十万名警员，但是只有6661名警员属于罪案调查组（CID），与总数不成正比。因此，该党要求政府重新分配警队人手，加强打击罪案的警力。 他补充，虽然首相曾表明将增加6万名警员，但是目前的问题并非警力不足，而是人手分配不均的问题。 对此，刘天球指出，将大部分的警员分配到镇暴队及充当贵宾保镖，是一种资源的浪费。 “我们出去示威，需要那么多镇暴队来“照顾”我们吗？我国的治安不去维持，却用大批警员来镇压示威行动，这合理吗？” 士拉央八打灵巡逻车不获使用 刘天球也举出一些具体例子，“我们可以发现士拉央及八打灵警局目前仍存有近50部巡逻车，没有获得妥善使用，假设加以使用这些警车，就能加强警员的巡逻，对人民来说是百利而无一害”。 “我观察这两间警察局很久了，不明白为何不曾有警员驾过这些巡逻车，一直将它们停泊在警局内，我在猜想他们是不是不够人手？” 经济低靡引发罪案 刘天球表示，国家经济与治安息息相关。虽然我国2006年的贸易额突破1兆令吉，政府宣称经济大有好转，但实际上经济依然处于低潮，失业问题也日益严重。 “通常当一个国家的经济出现问题时，犯罪率就会增加，因为当人们开始失业或生活紧逼时，就会铤而走险去做犯法的事。相反的，如果一个国家经济稳定，人人有工作的话，安居乐业，犯罪率自然减少。” 刘天球也对警队的工作效率感到不满，因为据马骐骝侄女所说，在马骐骝案件中，虽然其家人立即打电话报警，但匪徒却能大摇大摆，慢条斯理地离开现场，警员在报警30分钟后才姗姗来迟。

Breaking news: Datuk Albert Mah passed away

Former Penang CPO Datuk Albert Mah passed away today at the Universiti Hospital. He was attacked by 5 robbers who broke into his Gasing home in PJ on Friday. Our deepest condolences to his family.

I accompanied the Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang and few other CEC leaders to pay respect to the late Datuk Mah at the Nirvana Memorial Hall in Sg Besi a few hours ago. His niece confirmed that the police turned up only after about half an hour after the phone call. She also said that the emergency number 999 was engaged all the time.

It’s very sad indeed, that a man who contributed so much in fighting crimes and helped maintaining law and order during the darkest hour of the nation ( May 13 in Penang) had to died in the hands of the criminals. The police and the government had failed miserably in protecting Datuk Mah and many other victims of crimes.

We must not allowed Datuk Mah to die in vain. The PDRM and and the Prime Minister, who’s also the Home Minister, should wake up the fact that they must act quickly to restore security and safety for the people. The people in this country deserve to live in  a crime-free environment, instead of living in fear all the times.

Former Penang CPO Albert Mah still in coma

Do you remember some of these victims of heinous crimes? I have not included the Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shariibu and many other new victims here.

Crime rate is climbing up everywhere and the former Penang CPO is a new victim. Datuk Albert Mah is still in coma after a serious attack by robbers who broke into his home in Jalan Gasing, PJ two nights ago. He is now in the ICU of Universiti Hospital, PJ.  Albert Mah is a household name in Penang in the sixties and seventies. He will be always remembered as the man who came out strongly to quash any attempts of racial riots. Penang was relatively peaceful under his strong and able leadership. My friend Alfonso Ooi opines that Albert Mah made a mistake by plunging himself into politics after much persuasion of the late Tun Razak. He joined MCA and bacame the MP for Bukit Bendera for one term. In Alfonso’s words, he has given his valuable endorsement to a wrong party; a party that betrays the community it claims to represent. Coming back to the rising crime rates, do you know that only  6,661 out of the 100,000 strong police personnels were  actually tasked to fighting crimes in the streets? The rest of the police forces are either guarding the VIPs or helping the Barisan Nasional parties to spy on opposition politicians, disrupting peaceful ceramahs and demonstrations and arresting protestors or hiding behind the trees to look for errant motorists. According to Lim Thuan Seng (SA for Bukit Gasing), Datuk Mah’s family member called the police immediately after the robbery but the call did not get through easily and that police only arrived after some 30 minutes after the report. This is very serious and unacceptable if what was related by Lim was true (Sinchew report). That’s why we have been asking the PDRM to restructure its forces in order to put more men and women in blues in the streets. We do not need so many FRUs and outriders and bodyguards and Special Branch undercovers watching the opposition. While we are complaining about insufficient patrol cars on the roads, we saw many (no less than 50) brand new patrol cars parking nicely in the the compound of Selayang IPD, doing nothing but collecting dust. It appears to us that the police is seriously shorthanded at the moment and they have not been able to recruit new officers fast enough. The PDRM seems to have no clues to improve their level of service and performance. But when the opposition politicians and the Bar Council were campaigning for the setting up of the much awaited IPCMC, we were branded as ungrateful troublemakers by the Umno-led Barisan Nasional Government. AAB, are you still sleeping? (If the Prime Minister of the country does not wake up,you better do. （八打靈再也訊）週五（9日）在洋房遇劫的檳城前總警長拿督馬騏騮，是因為護妻心切而與匪徒糾纏中被推倒撞傷後腦，他目前還處於昏迷，情況危殆！

拿督馬騏騮受傷入院後，全國總警長丹斯里慕沙哈山和全國刑事調查總監拿督尹樹基，先後到馬大醫藥中心的加護病房探望他。
不過，尹樹基在步出病房時神色凝重，希望記者不要干擾傷者休息， 他拒絕向記者發表任何談話就離開。

子女陸續從國外返馬

馬騏騮一名從新加坡趕回來的兒子在醫院受詢時披露，父親的情況和週五一樣，依然未醒過來，情況令人感到憂心。其他4名兄弟姐妹接獲父親入院的消息，已陸續從國外返馬前往醫院探望父親。

拿督馬的逾10名親友，週六（10日）早上紛紛到醫院探望他，而行動不便的拿汀也在女傭的攙扶下，默默坐在一旁看著躺在病床上的丈夫。

匪徒亮燈搜屋

大馬防止罪案協會中央委員拿督彭茂桑到醫院探望拿督馬後表示，幹案匪徒膽大包天，潛入屋後竟然亮燈，他們翻箱倒櫃25分鐘後掠走一批財物。”

他也說，當時拿督和另5人都在熟睡中，當拿督馬被驚醒及發現匪徒後，因擔心拿汀受到對付而極力抗匪，沒想到卻被推倒受傷昏迷。

八打靈再也警區主任馬茲蘭助理總監表示，警方接獲投報後10分鐘後趕抵現場，不過匪徒已逃逸無蹤，警方尚未逮捕任何嫌犯查辦，目前已加緊偵緝這批匪徒的下落。

這起入屋搶劫傷人案，於晨4時30分潛入加星路5/4D路，拿督馬的單層洋房造案，5名悍匪各持巴冷刀，撬破前門進入洋房行劫，刀匪過後搶去價值3萬令吉的財物。年約80的馬騏騮是大馬首位華裔州總警長。到吉隆坡出席會議之際，特別抽空到馬大醫藥中心探望馬騏騮，並對馬騏騮的遭遇感到遺憾；一同前往探訪者還包括武吉加星州議員拿督林傳盛。

許子根表示，身為檳城前總警長及前升旗山國會議員，馬騏騮是一名廣受檳州人民愛戴及尊敬的長者。

國內治安敲響警鐘

他說，馬騏騮是檳城前總警長，對住家安全十分重視，在位於靈市加星路的住家內安裝多重保安系統和措施，但還是遭人破門行竊，還因此受重傷，顯示匪徒膽大包天。

“他的遭遇再次敲響國內治安的警鐘，更顯示匪徒目無法紀、干案時凶狠殘暴，政府必須採取嚴厲的對付行動及防範措施，提高公眾的警惕。”

家屬撥不通警局熱線

另一方面，林傳盛表示，據瞭解，馬騏騮家人曾在事發時致電報警，卻履次打不通警局熱線，成功致電後，警方卻在30分鐘後才抵達現場。

他說，警方的這種低效率間接給了劫匪信心，讓他們能安心地干案，因為劫匪會覺得事主報警也沒關係，反正警方不會那麼快到或可能不到，他們可以慢慢將屋子洗劫一空。–> （星洲日報‧2007.02.10）
