Pre-CNY visit to Cikgu Loot Ting Yee

We are happy to inform all Malaysians who care and respect educationist Cikgu Loot Ting Yee that he is healthy and fit when we met with him at his Cheras home on Monday night. We hope we could visit him more often than before.Loot Laoshi has just lost his beloved wife who died of cancer a month ago.

Loot Laoshi relinguished his position as the vice chairman of JiaoZong last year but he was immediately appointed as its advisor. Loot Laoshi also remains as the chairperson of the Lim Lian Geok Foundation. We know he will continue to soldier on for mother tongue education for many more years to come.

We touched on many issues in general apart from expressing our concern about the recent development of the original SJKC Damansara.

The Damansara school is still locked with heavy chains by the Barisan Nasional Government and until this day ( some 6 years now) the MCA is still stubbornly maintaining its original stance on the school without any justification. Students continue to study in the air-cond cabins within the compound of the local Ruan Liang Temple located next to the school.

A concerned committee member has told me recently that the present SOS Damansara Action Committee seems to have lost its steam and direction. There is not much activities except for the annual fund-raising dinner and festive activities. He said that something must be done to save the action committee before we could talk about moving on to save the school. I was approached by some of the committee members and several concerned parents and villagers to look into the matter.

I will try to meet up with the current chairman, his committee, the two advisors and the school principal in my capacity as their former advisor.
